CulturePolis, in partnership with Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, announces a series of three meetings for people aged 18-25 years old, titled “(Over)tourism for All, Impact on Whom?.” The meetings aim to shed light on the challenges brought by overtourism to local communities, with a special focus on participatory solutions and social cohesion.
The first meeting of the series will take place on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 17:00 to 19:00, in Room 319 at the Law School of Aristotle University (3rd floor). During this session, Professor of Philosophy Aris Stylianou and Lecturer in Political Science George Chatzichristos will present key scientific insights and discuss the social impacts of (over)tourism. Following the presentations, an open dialogue will be held with participating to gather their concerns and define the topics to be addressed in future meetings.
These meetings provide a unique opportunity for participants to have their voices heard and actively participate in shaping solutions to mitigate the negative effects of overtourism.
Our goal is to foster a meaningful dialogue on the social challenges posed by (over)tourism and contribute to the development of sustainable approaches for local communities.
