New website, three open events and a new chapter for culture, sustainability and innovation in Corfu
As part of the celebration of CulturePolis’ 20th anniversary, we are officially announcing the launch of the new genestia.org pilot website. The new Genestia initiative now has a dedicated space for information and communication, where you can discover the vision of Genestia for a Euro-Mediterranean Rural Regeneration Network, explore the spaces and activities of CorfuGen, and keep up to date with all the latest developments of the initiative.
CorfuGen: Centre for Culture, Sustainability & Innovation is taking its first steps in Corfu and now has its own digital presence.
This launch will be marked by three open events in Corfu, as part of the European Heritage Days, taking place from 25 to 27 September 2026. Over three days, different spaces and landscapes across Corfu will open their doors to the public, inviting residents and visitors to experience the vision of CorfuGen first-hand.
25 September | Kamara’s Traditional Kafeneio
The series of events begins in the heart of the village of Kamaras, with an open evening at the traditional kafeneio. From 18:00 to 21:00, over coffee and conversation, the vision and plans for the restoration and future operation of the space as a new community cultural hub will be presented, a place for meeting, creativity, exchange of ideas and cultural activities.

26 September | Kamara’s Olive Grove
On the second day, CorfuGen moves to Kamara’s Olive Grove. From 11:00 to 17:00, an open day featuring a guided tour and a walk in nature will invite participants to discover the olive grove as a living cultural heritage landscape and to learn about the vision for its future development as a space for ecological awareness, cultural exchange and rural regeneration.

27 September | ‘Perivoli’ Eco-Hub and KEPEA Corfu
The three-day series concludes in southern Corfu with an open day dedicated to the natural landscape and environmental heritage of the region. The ‘Perivoli’ Eco-Hub, in collaboration with the Centre for Environmental Education and Sustainability of Corfu (KEPEA), will serve as the starting point for exploring the Korissia wetlands and the Lefkimmi salt pans through a guided tour and a cultural heritage walk. The event will highlight the collaboration between CorfuGen and KEPEA Corfu in the effort to protect one of the region’s most important natural landscapes.

Three days, three spaces, one shared vision
From the historic coffeehouse and traditional olive grove to the wetlands of southern Corfu, the three events put the philosophy of CorfuGen into practice: creating spaces where culture, nature, local heritage, knowledge and contemporary creativity can come together and generate new opportunities for local communities.
The first “hearth” is being lit in Corfu.
