On 21 July 2006 the
Forum organized very successfully in Corfu its
inaugural international meeting on the subject ‘Cultural Identity and European
Citizenship’. Immediately after the Forum worked out multiannual plan of action
2007-2013 compatible with the European priorities, that aspires to offer a
framework of collaboration with all organizations in the region relative to
culture at its broader definition,
i.e.: national and local governments and organizations- cultural associations
and civil society groups and finally the private sector and sponsors.
The
action plan 2008-2010 is focused in the following priorities:
Establishment of
the Forum as international organization that functions in a decentralized
manner by coordinating the Network of its Cultural Antennas in all
countries and as many as possible more cities of the covered region
Creation of a
network and database of all cultural organizations and institutions of
Adriatic and Ionian and progressively of the wider region and activation
of members and friends in Permanent Groups of Activities of thematic
content
Undertaking of
studies, researches and R&D projects and other activities in
collaboration with Greek/International institutions
Organisation of
local and regional meetings, with regard to cultural identity and other
related subjects such as cultural tourism, cultural heritage, environment
and sustainable development in all regions of Adriatic
sea and Ionian and wider region
Organisation every
two years of an International Conference of Intercultural Dialogue of
Adriatic – Ionian and South – Eastern Europe and Mediterranean ( 1st
congress of 27 – 28thJune , 2008 inCorfu)
Undertaking of
awareness raising campaigns and sensitization of citizens with the help of
local / regional media, so that is listened the voice of citizens of
regions in the above subjects
Publication of
monthly electronic Informative Newsletter and other publications for the
members and our friends and the cultural organizations and local
governments
Organisation of
researches of opinion on issues interesting the Forum at national,
regional and local level

constitutes an important initiative of the Forum started early2008 aiming at
the creation of “cultural gate” that will host and collaborate with all the
above institutions with the objective to:
Activate
a platform of collaboration and networking of cultural institutions and promote
collaboration among them
Offer
the possibility of hosting websites and promotion of cooperating institutions –
members or not of the Forum, local cultural associations and other institutions
in a new website that it will be in the disposal of all society
Offer
a podium of presentation of cultural associations and institutions – in particular
of small NGOs that do not always have the possibilities of autonomous presence
Exploit
existing websites, cultural collections and files that will be enriched
continuously by the presence of new cultural teams
Constitute
the index and “depository” of cultural and other relevant events in the wider
region…. and finally,
Constitutethe forum of dialogue and reflection on
subjects of culture at its wider meaning, that it includes sustainable
development, responsible tourism, innovative applications of new technologies
etc.
The
forum aspires that this gate, initiated in 2008 in Corfu, will be soon
hosting also institutions from the all countries Adriatic
and Ionian, Balkans, and South-Eastern Europe and Mediterranean region.
